Fergie's Biography
My name is Gordon Ferguson, known to many
simply as "Fergie." I was born in Scotland in the city of
Paisley which is a suburb of Glasgow. The leading clubs in
Glasgow are Celtic and Rangers and they attract some of the best
players from around the world which boosts scottish football. I
played football (soccer) as a young boy on the streets kicking
the ball around which was common for young Scots in a country
where football has always been the main sport. Many players
wanting to follow in the footsteps of their heroes play on the
streets. I have "Total Passion" for football as a player and a
coach, and I have worked with some of the best players and
coaches in Scotland and England. I played to high level in
Scotland and enjoyed it immensely -- continuing my "Total
Passion" for the game.
In 1996, I came over to the U. S. to work
for a Summer Camp in Maine (www.CampCaribou.com) as the Soccer
Coaching Director. During that Summer, I was recruited and
awarded a college Soccer Scholarship. It was a fantastic
opportunity to play at the college level and what a great
experience.
Traveling around the U. S. playing soccer
in different states was an amazing way to see this fabulous
country and meet a lot of great players and coaches. After
concluding my playing career, I started pursuing my next
passion: giving back to the game of football. Ultimately, I want
to give a chance to the youth players of today to develop their
all round skills and be the best they can be on and off the
field. I believe the game is the best teacher and that the
learning process revolves around both playing the game and
watching the best players in the game.
See you on the fields!! |
